Under the old CHIEF system all UK imports and exports required a port badge in order to use customs declaration software and clear goods for movement across borders. The Customs Declaration Service (CDS) has replaced the CHIEF system for imports and is in the process of replacing the old export system too. The port badge was an extra expense for all traders and declarants regardless of the mode of transport and the port the goods were moving through. There was no added value for this extra transaction fee charged by port authorities.
Custran, in conjunction with CDS has developed a direct link between the Custran platform and the CDS system. This innovative collaboration means that Custran customers no longer need a port badge to move RoRo non-inventory linked goods through ports for UK imports. Custran do not charge customers anything extra for this product.
